The Comic Halftone Stylized Post-Process Material is a highly customizable post-process solution for achieving classic comic book, retro print, and pop-art visuals in Unreal Engine.
It is built around a single, highly optimized Master Material that offers two distinct projection methods: Screen Space (the halftone pattern stays fixed to the camera screen) and World Space (the pattern adheres to 3D objects). To ensure high visual quality, the World Space setup includes dynamic distance scaling to prevent flickering and moiré artifacts on distant objects. Please note: While this significantly reduces visual noise, some flickering may still occur in World Space projection depending on distance and geometry.
The pack includes 12 ready-to-use presets, covering a wide range of styles including CMYK printing, classic black and white grayscale, and vibrant cel-shaded Toon fills. All presets feature an integrated outline effect by default.
Standalone Outline & Toon Shader: In addition to the core halftone effect, the Outline and Toon Shader are built as independent Material Functions. This allows them to be easily extracted and used as standalone post-process effects in your own custom materials.
