Rain64 is a very accurate drop-in SceneViewExtension post-process plugin.
Your frame is downscaled into a low-resolution framebuffer, quantized to 15-bit color through ordered dithering (magic-square pattern, Bayer, or noise), softened by a de-dither/anti-alias filter to smooth gradients, all of which can be optionally degraded through a two-pass NTSC composite-video encode/decode with animated dot crawl and displayed through CRT scanlines and an aperture-grille mask.
Access 30+ console variables in Project Settings:
Resolution
Three authentic internal resolutions (256×224, 320×240, 640×480) or any custom width you like
Pixel aspect ratio control (taller or wider pixels)
Window-relative sizing, so the chunkiness stays consistent at any window size
Render-scale mode: render the actual 3D scene at reduced resolution for a real performance gain and edge aliasing
Smooth or pixel-perfect downscale filtering
Color & Dithering
Three dither patterns: the classic console magic square, Bayer 4×4, or noise
Dither strength: from full retro pattern to barely-there
Dither size: fine and accurate, or big chunky cells
Screen-anchored dither or experimental world-anchored dither that sticks to surfaces as the camera moves
Color depth from harsh 8-color banding up through authentic 15-bit to fully smooth
Indexed palette mode: lock the whole image to your own palette of up to 64 colors
Preset color palettes included and requests for new palette presets are welcome
Saturation and contrast grading, applied the way the framebuffer would have held it
Highlight rolloff and white point: dial bright areas between punchy/blown-out and soft/washed
Highlight ceiling: stop pure-white surfaces from blasting, without touching midtones
Blur & Sharpening
De-dither/anti-alias filter, from fully blur to crisp
Stray-pixel "divot" cleanup like fifth-generation game consoles
Unsharp sharpening to push edges
Output gamma
Tonemapping
One-toggle neutral tonemapper that strips Unreal's filmic curve for direct framebuffer-style color
Composite Video
Composite-video degradation from clean to full RF-cable memories
Two implementations: a cheap stylized mode, or a genuine two-pass NTSC encode/decode with animated dot crawl
Color bleed width and rainbow-fringe amount
CRT Display
Scanlines with adjustable strength and a true 240p line count that ignores your render resolution
Aperture-grille phosphor mask
Workflow
Three one-command presets: authentic, enhanced, modern
Every setting saves with your project, plus live console tweaking in PIE
Editor stays clean by default; viewport preview is one checkbox
One-click reset to factory defaults
