Description
π New Release: Easy Weather & Sky System
A complete runtime weather and sky system for Unreal Engine 5. Drop one Blueprint actor into your level and go from clear skies to a full blizzard, with no C++ and no setup work.
β¨ Key Features:
π§οΈ Rain, Snow and Hail: Three independent Niagara systems with their own intensity, amount and area, plus splashes, ripples and snow accumulation.
ποΈ Seven Weather Presets: Clear, Cloudy, Foggy, Rain, Storm, Snow and Blizzard. One switch reconfigures every system at once.
π Full Day and Night Sky: Time of day, day speed, sun and moon curves, volumetric clouds, stars, Milky Way and a toggleable Aurora.
β‘ Lightning and Thunder: Randomised strikes with cloud flash and a dynamic light, then thunder delayed by distance.
π No Rain Indoors: Scene-capture occlusion masking follows the player so precipitation never falls through roofs.
π§ Wetness and Screen Effects: Ground darkens and shines under rain, with post-process screen frost and camera-lens droplets.
Disclaimer - Important/Additional Notes:
- Dependencies: Niagara (built-in Unreal Engine plugin). No other plugins are required. No C++ code.
- Nanite: Not used. No static mesh in this product has Nanite enabled.
- Demo content: Epic's Third Person template character (mannequins, animations, input) is included in EasyWeather/Demo for the showcase map only.
- The Control Panel and the toolbar button are editor tools and are only available in the editor. The weather system itself is runtime content.
- Run Setup can change the landscape material to add snow support; back it up first on existing projects.
- Recommended rendering settings: DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6, Lumen and Virtual Shadow Maps (already set in the included project configuration).
- Separate project packages are provided for Unreal Engine 5.5, 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8.
Features:
- Rain and snow: independent Niagara particle systems with their own intensity, amount and area controls, Follow Player or Map Based placement, and footprints in snow.
- Dynamic day/night sky: time of day, day speed, Auto Cycle, sun and moon intensity curves and volumetric cloud coverage.
- Night sky: stars, Milky Way and an aurora that can be turned on and off.
- Random lightning strikes with a lightning bolt, flickering light, cloud flash and distance-timed thunder audio.
- Occlusion masking so rain and snow do not fall through roofs and into interiors.
- Post-process screen frost and camera-lens screen droplets.
- Wind direction and intensity driving rain, snow and blizzard motion.
- Eight quick presets in the Control Panel (Clear Sky, Overcast, Misty Morning, Rain, Storm, Light Snow, Blizzard, Aurora Night) and a Weather Preset setting on the actor.
- Editor Control Panel and toolbar button with Run Setup and Solve All.
- Everything is driven by a single Blueprint actor (BP_EasyWeatherSystem) and can be tuned live while playing.
- Showcase map with an open pavilion and a house that demonstrate roof occlusion, with in-level instructions and a ready Third Person demo character.
