Description
This is my interpretation of a pattern with originally a symmetry group *442 (p4m) (but with a gradient variation of the rombi angles and the central filling shape size that invalidates the symmetry), as a top view of a structure exclusively made of rotated squares (for a casual rhombus with internal angles 45° and 135° the rotation angle is acos(tan(pi/8)) ≈ 65.53019947929782°). You can find various versions of this kind of pattern with the same rhombi and various central filling shapes on Brian Wichmann’s website:
tilingsearch.mit.edu/HTML/data155/F34.html (no shape)
tilingsearch.mit.edu/HTML/data9/M060.html (octagons and squares)
tilingsearch.mit.edu/HTML/data169/P187D4.html (star 4{2} = {8/2})
On my version I placed a star {8/3} that is also made of rotated squares.
