The Amazonas is the flagship of the Brazilian Navy, a groundbreaking warship and one of the largest in the world, measuring nearly 400 meters in length. Its most distinctive feature is three towering vertical sails, each extending 30 meters above the flight deck. These sails harness wind energy to power the ship’s internal systems, reducing fuel consumption by 20% and enabling extended operations despite its non-nuclear propulsion. Armed with 160 Vertical Launch System (VLS) cells capable of deploying anti-ship, anti-air, and land-attack missiles, as well as supporting four F-35 VTOL fighters, the Amazonas is highly versatile. Its advanced AESA radar system can detect surface targets up to 400 kilometers away and engage space-based threats.
