Historical fact about why you may need a bookcase in your scene: In the Middle Ages, open bookcases like we have today didn’t really exist. Before the printing press, books were so expensive and rare that people usually kept them locked in heavy wooden chests. In churches and monasteries, the most valuable manuscripts were often chained to reading desks with iron chains to prevent theft. These were called "chained libraries."

Much later, when books became more common, people began standing them upright with the spines facing out on open shelves. This kind of heavy, solid oak furniture became a real status symbol, showing everyone that the owner could afford both knowledge and a way to show it off.

This bookcase is great for setting the mood, filling empty walls, and giving your scenes a real, authentic feel.
