Description
NamingCheck is an editor plugin that scans Unreal projects for naming convention violations and helps you fix them.
What it checks:
Wrong prefixes, missing prefixes, invalid characters, placeholder tokens (New, Test, Final, Copy, Temp, WIP), and names that exceed configurable length limits. Results are organized by severity (Critical, Warning, Info) and presented in a sortable, filterable table.
The dashboard shows a circular naming score (0-100), metric cards for total assets and issues, a severity breakdown, and quick actions, all at a glance.
Fix names safely. The rename preview shows every suggested change alongside conflict detection. The suggestion engine is conservative, it only applies prefix corrections from known rules and preserves meaningful tokens. All renames execute inside a scoped Undo transaction (Ctrl+Z to revert).
Export reports in Markdown or CSV for team reviews, documentation, or Jira imports. Reports include scan summary, top offending folders, and a full issue table.
Customizable rules. Three built-in presets (Epic Style, Fab Seller, Solo Project Simple) plus a full rule editor. Add prefix rules per asset class, configure max name length, set allowed characters, define messy tokens, and specify ignored paths or classes. Custom profiles persist in your project settings.
Integrates with the editor. Open from Tools > ECal Studios > NamingCheck, or right-click folders and assets in the Content Browser to scan directly.
