描述

One caryatid from the temple of Athena on the Acropolis in Athens. This is a replica, original ones being exposed in museums in Greece but also one in the British Museum.

Limited scan. Because of the difficult environment, I was forced to take pictures from very far with almost no sight of the back. I partly reconstructed missing parts in this area and textured too. I also did some manual delighting in blender to suppress hard shadows caused by morning sunlight.

A caryatid is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support taking the place of a column or a pillar supporting an entablature on her head. The Greek term karyatides literally means “maidens of Karyai”, an ancient town on the Peloponnese. wiki
