Description

Build smooth rotation logic for cameras, turrets and moving objects in Blueprint.

Blueprint Quaternion adds 85 nodes to aim at targets, combine rotations and control turning speed. Use them directly in your graphs. No C++ required.

Quaternions represent 3D rotations without gimbal lock. The plugin gives you the nodes to work with them in Blueprint, with all angles in degrees.

Aim, turn and follow targets

  • Turn towards a target at a speed you choose.

  • Blend smoothly between rotations with Slerp, Lerp and Ease.

  • Follow a moving target with Interp To and Interp To Constant.

  • Build smooth paths through several rotations with Squad and Calc Tangent.

  • Smooth out shaking in rotation data, such as tracked movement.

Build your own rotation logic

  • Align an object with a surface or a direction.

  • Combine rotations, reverse a rotation or measure the angle between two rotations.

  • Separate a joint's swing from its twist to control each part.

  • Rotate vectors and get forward, right and up directions.

  • Generate random rotations, including repeatable results from a seed.

  • Convert between Quaternion and Rotator, or keep rotations as quaternions when working with transforms.

Edit rotations in a familiar way

Edit quaternion values as Euler angles or as an axis and angle in the Details panel. You can also view the X, Y, Z and W components, adjust several selected objects and paste rotation values.

The panel is optional. You can switch back to Unreal Engine's standard display in Editor Preferences.

Start using the nodes

Enable the plugin and find the nodes under Math > Quaternion in your Blueprint graphs. The nodes also support thread-safe Animation Blueprint updates. Full C++ source is included.

Also available in Blueprint Unchained: get this plugin together with Blueprint Subsystems, Blueprint Instanced Struct and Blueprint Project Settings in one package.
