This product contains a high quality scene using a large numbers of photogrammetry assets such as rocks, cliffs, a variety of dense quality foliage ranging from large tall weeds to grass and moss. This pack should contains everything you need to make a highly detailed nature environment set.


The pack contains a wide range of procedural content scattered throughout to deliver a realistic depiction of a natural environment. All large photoscanned rock modules have been carefully placed by hand for an authentic and believable look followed by a dense scatter of foliage.


All assets custom LOD to ensure performance is in check but still keep the visual silhouette of the assets. Most assets have had their texture resolution lowered to ensure they fit within the default streaming pool in Unreal. Almost all meshes are using nanite for visual fidelity and performance boost.


Note: The use of path meshes relying on landscape splines are not using nanite due to them still being experimental.


This project DOES NOT contain or use Pivot Painter however a custom technique was used. Wind can be controlled globally via the Material Parameter Collection or by enabling a switch in each material instance for more per actor control.


The landscape shader is optimized well using 6 unique materials to paint on the terrain plus a additional layer for removing foliage.. The landscape version in the 1009 squared meter level and relies on height blended terrain materials, various noise overlay colours, a global colour map, foliage switches to turn on/off, individual parameters for each layer, custom distance tiling textures for similar landscape layers, animated normals for the puddle layer and custom specular reflections for glancing angles.


A huge range of content is scattered using the procedural foliage volumes. Use these to alter the placement and scattering settings, change the seed values, however keep in mind the more foliage you add the higher the performance cost. The foliage assets are relying on nanite for unique silhouette detail so keep in mind the number of instances as this can affect performance. The procedural content has been set using custom end cull values to stop rendering & limit the performance cost. Change these values to what you feel looks right.


Animated cloud and custom fog materials have been added to give a real depth to the overall mood and scene to the image. They both rely on flowmaps to give a more natural movement to the motion which enhances the overall look of the environment.


Note 1: Please ensure you use the Custom .ini file HERE to make sure all visual and & performance is at its peak for this project. The performance will vary based on your hardware and other packs used in the project. This is an asset pack which can only be added via the Unreal Launcher.


Note 2: The project does have enabled Extend default luminance range in Auto Exposure in the project settings, however lighting values have been kept low to ensure you can still preview the scene outside of any cinematic cameras.


Note 3: The pack contains a CC0 HDR image taken from HDRI Haven which they allow me to use their skyboxes for commercial usage. Read more about it HERE


Note 4: A number of textures are using Virtual Texture to improve the over all performance and memory overhead.


Note 5: Naturally given the type of pack featuring real-time lighting its HIGHLY ADVISED to ALWAYS use a Movable directional sunlight and not bake any shadows. If you do choose to bake lighting you should be using the Volumetric Lightmaps
