Description

Lower Niger (Igbo-Ukwu) ‘Bronze Bell’ with human head with a cylindrical neck. The face features large, rounded eyes, a pronounced nose, and full lips. The surface is decorated with horizontal grooves that encircle the face and continue down the neck. The forehead has a central vertical ridge, and the top of the head is adorned with a patterned headdress, including a braided element and a vertical extension at the center. The base of the object is flared, providing stability. The overall design is symmetrical, with detailed craftsmanship.
