This project contains everything needed to create your exploration game.

Initially designed for the Backroom game genre, it can easily be used in more general horror games in terms of style.

This backroom Project is my approach of backroom game, more access to horror rather than the calm side of liminal space.

The project contains a functional menu, and an in-game, pause menu.

The Backrooms Entity, with basic A.I (Roaming, Roaring, Chasing, patrolling and Attack) will give you a hard time.

There mainly two type of AI, humanoid and ... ''The thing'' .

The character has footsteps Sounds (floor, grass, metal, sand, water and wood), a flashlight, a simple life and stamina/ renewed life system.

A complete camera system, with zoom and various varied effects ranging from DOF to Material effect and post process effects.

What else does version 2 contain?

  • New AI 'the thing' with special Niagara system highly customisable. Also, the AI made sound interference when near of player.
  • 4 new Sounds, noclip sound includes. For a total of 7 custom sound.
  • Noclip teleportation BP with noclip animation spawn.
  • 'The thing' can be now controllable as player controller and have mini-map.
  • Weather dynamic time System BP with Niagara system and enumeration , time of day and seasons.
  • 14 custom shakes effects
  • 2 Particle effects : insects and Dust particles.
  • Extra tentacle Niagara System highly customisable with variations.
  • 5 new levels, for a total of 6! New Menu map, now have LEVEL0. Two sandbox level, one with the dynamic time Weather system. Tentacle sandbox level with controllable 'the thing'.
  • 6 custom decals.
  • 10 Emissive Material instance.
  • Level 0 Wall Texture and carpet texture
  • Outline effect, hallucination effect and blur effect added. For a total of 5 visual mats effect.
  • Mini map for 'the thing' controller (real time mini map)
  • 2 custom construction 'poolroom' (no collision)
  • 4 meshes, walls, floor pillar for prototyping.
  • Noclip Animation handmade as close to "reality" as possible

Note: this project uses the Water plugin for visual purpose only, even is a good addition with water step sound.

Note: This project uses the ModellingToolsEditorMode Plugin.

I suggest to replace the Carpet texture for this Carpet mat from Ambianttcg.com.

Pool tile mat can be also used for Poolroom.

HUD is voluntarily disable and can be added in the BP player / new game function.

Note: I'm using low end computer. If you want real life graphics, Lumen will greatly increase the quality of the project. Also, Using Megascan asset/material will help you in the quest for perfect graphics.

Megascan Bridge French tutorial or 5.3 tutorial are the reference.
