Video: Advanced Realistic Glass - Caustic Shadow with VSM
Advanced Realistic Glass is a master material designed to deliver exceptional realism and flexibility. With a robust set of customization options, it allows you to achieve a wide range of glass appearances, from clear glass to frosted or with patterned models.
You can adjust opacity, roughness, and reflection to create various glass types, including frosted, textured, and patterned glass. Control IOR and Fresnel settings to fine-tune reflections and refractions. You can add dirt/imperfections or distortion normals for enhanced realism.

It is suitable for games, architectural visualization, cinematics, and product rendering.
Parameters categories: Color, Opacity, Refraction, Normals, Reflection, DIrt, Distortion, Frosted, Fake Translucent Shadow
Remember, you can modify the translucency type in your Post Processing Volume.
The appearance of materials can vary significantly depending on whether translucency is set to Raster or Raytracing/Path Tracing. Because of this, this material allows you to adjust the parameters separately for each translucency type. Ray Tracing parameters are prefixed with "RT.". This ensures consistency, especially if the final user has the ability to tweak settings for better translucency rendering.
Fake Translucent Shadow
In Unreal Engine 5 Virtual Shadow Map (VSM) does not support translucent shadows. This material includes a custom fake translucent shadow technique, providing a more realistic shadow representation than the default opaque alternative. Limitation: This shadow technique does not replicate colored caustics; however, it significantly improves shadow realism over Unreal Engine 5’s default solutions.
If you use RayTracing Shadow, unreal already has the caustic shadow effect, you should use the r.Raytracing.Shadows.Translucency 1 console command (with shadow as masked disabled)
