The UltraLight is a procedural softbox/light source building tool aimed at high-quality and ultra-realistic renders and studio quality lighting. Create lights of any shape or style with one simple tool! Based on real-world photographic tools and 30+ years of professional photographic and CG lighting/rendering experience, UltraLight was originally developed as an in-house tool at Heavy Artillery Studios and is being shared now for the first time.

Integrated native UE lights (Rect , Spot , and Point)
Projection Spotlights! (in full color, with animated UV parameters)
Light Plane:
Light plane to control speculars/reflections separately from the light intensity/position
Parametric/Procedural softbox generator
Custom geometry for Light Plane and Shell Geometry (use any Static Mesh as a light source!)
Shell Geometry:
Built-in non-emissive geometry for common softbox shapes (rectangular, octo, hex, and round) with organic deformation versions for extra realism. (8 shapes total)
IES Lights
Use your own custom tex maps.
Fully adjustable scale, tiling, rotation, blurring, & simple animation of the UVs for quick motion effects.
Color & contrast controls
Overlay Texture (added texture for complex light sources and creating natural variation)
Triplanar Mapping for custom light plane geometry
Integrated procedural tools include:
Linear & radial gradients
Worldspace/3D Linear gradient (great for non-UV'd geometry as Custom Light Planes)
Cropping/Frame gradients
Fresnel Gradient
Look-at/Light targeting
Gobo/cookie system to craft light & make incredibly detailed shadow patterns, and ND filters
All parameters animatable, many with built-in animation so no Sequencer required!
Works w/ the real-time engine, Path Tracer, Lumen
No external plug-ins & leverages built-in UE tools, so it should work for almost any version of Unreal Engine and be highly future-proof!
UltraLight combines native Unreal Engine light sources with a customizable and texturable emissive plane that includes a full range of procedural/parametric texture and gradient tools, a built-in gobo system, and optional light geometry shapes. It is the most versatile and high-quality cinematic lighting tool available. Make lights of any shape or style, separate light sources from reflections for the ultimate control over the look and feel of your scenes, and match the cinematic quality of professional studios.
Project includes lighting demonstration levels with multiple lighting scenarios. All models are free to use in your own projects.
